I've got a few favourite posts...but this is probably my favourite post of all time.

Wayne was in Year 8 when he saw an elderly lady getting on the bus. He jumped up from his seat, took her shopping trolley and made sure she had a seat.

A member of the public saw that small act of kindness* and called Cardinal Pole Catholic School reception. She told Francine, our Deputy Office Manager, all about it, saying how taken aback she was by how courteous and well presented he was*.

Knowing that I was in charge of our social media, Francine told me how this had made her day, and how impressed everyone in the office was with Wayne's actions.

The photo is of Wayne and Francine. The caption was Francine's account of the phone call she received.

Cardinal Pole's social media followers went WILD. The post received 148 likes, which has been beaten since but was unheard of at the time. Seven people (including my mother) commented, praising Wayne for his actions*.

What a guy Wayne is. What a response from our community.

...and now whenever I run social media training for our schools, I tell them about my favourite post*.

...and every time I do I feel a surge of pride for the community we serve. Just like all the times I've dropped a * in this post.

Because that's what we are celebrating.

Incredible young people* and inspiring school communities.

How lucky are we to hear about all this good news!?

Thanks to Francine, thanks to the lady on the bus who called in, but most of all - THANKS TO WAYNE! Written by
